Science/Social Sciences

At Whitikahu School we promote learning through exploring the Nature of Science. We model, teach, and encourage students to question their world and to make sense of it by – thinking like a Scientist!

We nurture our learners to become critical thinkers. We do this by providing authentic, relevant, and meaningful contexts in which to explore the science capabilities.

Science, and the Social Sciences, are taught explicitly through our FLIGHT Inquiry Model. Our students have opportunities to create and investigate questions and personal curiosity. This helps to create motivation and engagement of our learners.

We also utilise the amazing resources developed at the “House of Science.”
